okay but even sansa fans should feel annoyed at petyr’s arc this season, no matter how much they hate him.

sansa is in the vale right now with no omniscient brother or needle-wielding sister to help her. petyr is going to fail at some point and it’s going to be (in large part) due to sansa. she is going to work past his pride and his ego to see the truth of his actions (at least enough of it to condemn him). baelish puts the tools for his downfall in her hands, slowly, methodically, believing he’s crafted this perfect partner/daughter/spouse. by triumphing over him, sansa is smart, a player instead of a pawn.

by making petyr stupid the show has also cheapened sansa’s growth as well. (i am NOT saying show!sansa isn’t strong or clever. but i don’t think a single book reader believes rape is the missing ingredient in the porcelain>ivory>steel progression.) of course she’s onto him because he’s committed a series of blatant, colossal fuck ups lately. show!sansa doesn’t need to be smart to see through him, she just has to twiddle her thumbs until the script says petyr’s taking up too much space. she’s now as much a means to an end (killing off a secondary character) as she is a character in her own right. sansa stark deserves better than that.
